Lydia B. Johnston

Lydia Johnston's Oil Paintings express landscapes reflecting the natual beauty of the Berkshires and Southern Vermont where she has lived for the past Twenty-five years. Much of her inspiration comes from the passing seasons and the fields and woods that surrond her.

Johnston's work is impressionistic. Her goal is to capture the mood of the moment, the swaying seed heads of ripening grasses, the sparkle of wildflowers in a meadow. A sense of the place is created without providing all the details, drawing you back continually to find something new.

Lydia Johnston is a self-taught artist.  She has been working with color and design for the past twenty years.  Her work has been exhibited throughout the country and hangs in many private collections.
